National statistics report that 99% of babies identified with hearing loss are born to families with no prior understanding or knowledge of deafness.
This can be a daunting and confusing time for families, often absorbing a lot of information while dealing with significant emotional stress.
It is crucial that families be connected with professionals and services that specialize in working with families of children who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing. And who understand what you’re going through.
As a parent-driven organization, we understand first-hand the value that comes with access to the most recent guidance, having support from experienced parents, and making connections with other families and community members regardless of communication mode.

Every Massachusetts Hands & Voices activity is supported by interpreters that serve the needs of our d/Deaf and hard of hearing community. We also provide information on how to access an interpreter, no matter the child's stage of life.
There are many aspects of navigating the opportunities and challenges of raising a d/Deaf or hard of hearing child. The more information and tools parents have, the more successful the child will be.
